Service and Sniper Rifles for sale

Service and Sniper Rifles

All service and sniper rifles for sale are checked for correct headspace and unless otherwise stated will all gauge within the bore tolerance required when new. I do not just peer up the barrel and think “it’s shiny and has twisty bits, so it must be OK”.

New items of stock can be found at the top of the list. To see the details and pictures of each gun click on the title and the information will open out. To view a larger image select the picture.

To discuss the purchase of any of the full bore, service and sniper rifles for sale below please Contact Me.

Just Arrived – these will be photographed and listed once I have put them through the workshop:

  • 7.92mm Mauser Double Claw Sniper Rifle, post war refinished, very good bore
  • .22 Calibre Innovations AR, with CI moderator, as new – fired 6 rounds only
  • .22 Enfield N.9 training rifle, very fine example and all correct – military contract not civilian, rare
  • Prototypes and Specials – I am in a position to take expressions of interest in 20 rifles that make up a collection in its own right of prototype and special rifles from the Accuracy International legacy collection, within which are such gems as the surviving PM/L96 trials rifles from the SAS trials, the earliest surviving L96, the earliest Arctic Warfare, the L96/PM Designated Marksman prototype along with other one-off’s and a handful of Malcolm Cooper’s own competition rifles (including No001).
  • 7.62mm Accuracy International L96A1 COVERT Sniper Rifle, gosh, what to say…. The factory development rifle, with correct and possibly one-off Delsey case, the only complete and correct example known in existence – This rifle is from the official Accuracy International legacy collection with provenance – a once-in-several-lifetimes opportunity, one for the collector who (thought he) has everything…

7.62mm Accuracy International GSR L96 Prototype Rifle – SOLD

7.62mm Accuracy International General Service Requirement Prototype, Circa 1984, from the Accuracy International Legacy Collection with signed certificate of provenance from the factory stating as such. Wow, here we go – this is the first working prototype that would be recognisable as an L96 and is a unique piece of history to anyone with an interest in sniper rifles or Accuracy International. As the 29th rifle built by the fledgling company in 1984 it was the second from last of the initial numbering sequence and followed on from the SAS and SBS was the 7th sniper rifle prototype built and the first for the General Service Requirement trials that became the L96A1. Using the same barrel profile used on the earlier SAS prototype rifles and a unique action profile you can see that originally the safety was of the same double ended type as the first 6 rifles and would have passed through the (hand made) trigger unit, the evolution of the safety into the “normal” L96?PM safety and trigger unit is very interesting to see. Likewise the chassis incorporate a number of differences to production rifles and the butt spike is unique. This is a unique opportunity to become custodian of the most iconic prototype in the collection. £SOLD

7.62mm Accuracy International Designated Marksman Rifle 4276

7.62mm Accuracy International Designated Marksman Rifle, Circa 2011, from the Accuracy International Legacy Collection with signed certificate of provenance from the factory stating as such. Originally an early PM demo rifle manufactured in 1987 as an L96 demo rifle this is rifle was then repurposed in 2011 and demonstrated to the UK MOD as the DMR, or Designated Marksman Rifle. Only one such rifle was built, designed by Dave Walls himself, this is that rifle. The MOD chose the LMT MWS in the end however this is a very well known rifle in its own right having been written about at some length (pages 298 and 299 in Steve Houghton’s “The British Sniper” feature it heavily). £90,000.00 Inc. .223 Southern Gun Company AR Rifle in very good condition. 1:8 twist heavy fluted target barrel with very good bore, 5 magazines and quick butt – usually these SGC’s are heavily used and a little tatty around the edges, this one is neither and appears to have led a gentle and well cared for existence – grab it quickly as I don’t think it will be here long. £1,750.00

7.62mm Accuracy International PMSD 4246

7.62mm Accuracy International PMSD, Circa 1987, from the Accuracy International Legacy Collection with signed certificate of provenance from the factory stating as such. One of a batch of ten PMSD’s built in July 1987 with the destination “Hereford” – this was crossed out and replaced with “Donnington”, five of the batch were returned to AI in November 2012 where they remained in the official Accuracy International collection until now, one is now displayed on the board room wall, three are now with very discerning collectors and this is the last one available. In new condition, with equally new L13A1 scope (correct UK Infantry reticule) in original number packaging, numbered packing crate, magazine and cleaning kit still in the wrapping. A unique opportunity for the serious collector of Sniper rifles, the PMSD’s were supplied to special forces and CT units and very few have ever made it into private ownership, to have a new example from 1987 in timewarp condition would be a dream for any of us – here is your chance – grab it before it disappears into a collection not to be seen again for another 40 years. £72,000.00 Inc. .300 Accuracy International AWM Left Handed 4243
.300 Accuracy International AWM Left Handed
.300 Winchester Magnum Accuracy International Arctic Warfare Magnum Left Handed, Circa 2001, from the Accuracy International Legacy Collection with signed certificate of provenance from the factory stating as such. Very, very, few left handed Arctic Warfare Magnum’s were built – generally only for special military order – this example is in unused/unfired condition and has a few interesting features – quick cheek riser, no provision for AI bipod, permanent provision for Harris Bipod, integrated Pic rail with emergency rearsight and forward relief for telescope objective lens, holed through the forend for accessory rails and hand altered stock sides for the left handed action. With the bipod provision, rail and AINA engraving I believe this was a demo for the US military market, either way it is an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire a Left Handed AW rifle from the AI collection, the only such example I have for disposal. £15,000.00 Inc VAT

.303 Winchester No3T Sniper Recreation 4231

.303 Winchester P14, Circa 1916, converted here in my workshop to No3T Sniper. A very nicely composed Sniper Recreation with original PPCo Model 1918 telescope with very good optics and much original finish (originally fitted to No3T number W230043) in original rings and front mount base, scratch made (by hand) rear mount base, fine adjustment rearsight (I think this is one I converted a few years ago), built up in the spirit of the original with the benefit of having handled and inspected several original rifles. Base rifle is a 1916 matching numbers Winchester P14 with good bore gauging at .30375” that has not been through WRS. An awful lot of effort goes into these recreations and the ones I have put together very, very, rarely come up for sale, be quick, it won’t hang around! £6,500.00

.303 Long Branch CNo4Mk1*(T)TP Sniper Composition 4088

.303 Long Branch CNo4Mk1*(T)TP Sniper Composition. A very well built up and true to original reproduction TP rifle, built up many years ago utilising a very fine Long Branch No4MK1* in the correct serial number range with matching numbers and very good original barrel gauging at .3045”, original TP telescope and bracket and very fine, engineer made (in UK) telescope mount base and original Canadian cheek piece. The Trade Pattern rifles fitted with Lyman Alaskan 2 ½ power telescopes are incredibly rare with it is thought less than 350 produced (some accounts stating 99 though it is now thought that the number could be closer to 350), many of which were sent to the Dutch and Belgian forces in the years after WW2 where they were then scrapped, a small number of the telescopes and rings were purchased by a UK dealer after the rifles were scrapped and a small handful were assembled onto composition TP rifles such as this. £4,000.00

7.62mm Enfield Enforcer 4103

7.62mm Enfield Enforcer, Circa 1974. Recorded as having been sent to Staffordshire Police on the 13th September 1974, this Enforcer is matching (original)numbers throughout with the exception of the magazine which is un-numbered, including the telescope (which is in lovely, crisp, condition with perfect optics and sniper post and wire reticule). In the same ownership for over 30 years, it was fitted with a 30” Madco 1:14 stainless barrel in 1991 so it could be used competitively, the barrel is in superb condition and I am assured by its owner that it is very accurate. Forend (original, it and the top handguard are numbered in pencil within the barrel channel) has been fitted with the typical handstop rail and the rifle is supplied with a handstop and Parker Hale bipod. This is a very decent Enforcer and with a correct, original, chordal barrel would be one of the very best around – having a full length butt with correct original pad, matching numbers and matching numbered telescope, I may have a suitable barrel available at extra cost. £2,000.00

.303 No1Mk6 Trials Rifle 4061

.303 No1Mk6 Trials Rifle. A very unusual opportunity to acquire a No1Mk6 that never got to be built up for trials but was finished as an issue rifle in 1941 at Fazakerly in the days following Dunkirk when we were desperate for functioning rifles. Correct trials action with SBN8 stamped under the wrist for Steel Batch Number 8, the magazine cut-off slot has never been cut and the safety relief has never been finished but the Mk6 action side is unmistakeable. Early production woodwork and very good 2-groove early Maltby barrel gauging at .30225” (replacement, early Maltby number). Hardness test marks to the action ring and side of the boltway, I suspect this was an action used as a machining process test piece in its original form then required for service in 1941. I have not seen another unfinished action the same as this one pushed into service and an absolute ‘must’ for any Enfield collector. £2,500.00

.577 Snider Mk3 3-Band BM1

.577 Snider Mk3 3-Band, Circa 1871. A lovely Snider Mk3 3-band service rifle, ordnance marked throughout, very crisp woodwork and near mint bore. Would make a very fine example to put on ticket and shoot or could be held without certificate as a curiosity or ornament under Section 58(2). Very keenly priced and far better than the majority I see. £1,350.00

.303 No1Mk3* LSA 1918 4048

.303 London Small Arms manufactured No1MK3*, Circa 1918. A lovely, all matching (original) SMLE with a strong, though slightly grey, bore gauging t .30475”. Has South African issue markings an light grey phosphate finish typical of SA refurbishment though all numbers are matching and original. Forward top handguard has lost its rear legs, though obviously this does not affect its operation, I do have replacements available at extra cost though the original matches very well in colour. This would make a splendid first SMLE to shoot and enjoy, Great War No1’s with matching numbers are getting very thin on the ground and this one is priced very attractively… £700.00

7.62mm Enfield Enforcer 4040

7.62mm Enfield Enforcer, Circa 1980. A late production Enforcer, built in 1980, interestingly on a 1944 dated action (usually the butt socket markings are linished off prior to conversion). Number recorded in the Enfield Ledger but not recorded as having been sold to any particular Police force so likely one of the rifles sold off by York Guns as surplus. Fair barrel with strong rifling, gauging well but with some light pitting here and there, matching numbers to the action and bolt, forend with another Enforcer number applied. Correct Pecar 4-10 Variable telescope in correct rings, mounts etc and correct target sights present. Slightly later Harris bipod fitted. £2,750.00

7.92mm Mauser K98 1941 4031

7.92mm Mauser K98 manufactured by Mauser’s Borsigwalde factory in Berlin, Circa 1941. One of the many K98’s that were refurbished by Russian forces following WW2 and put into stores, with typical finish to the metal parts and electrostencil renumbering throughout but with a very good barrel and many original matching parts including its original walnut stock. Should make a good shooting example and K98’s with good barrels have become thin on the ground and are very expensive to rebarrel. £850.00

IWS Kit AN32

Very, very, fine and rare Individual WeaponSight (IWS) in full working order having recently had a replacement tube, with one of the clearest images I have seen on an IWS. Correct front and rear covers with the rear eyepiece shutter working as it should and contained within its carry case with correct holdall, lens tissues, lens cleaning brush, one good battery, two dead batteries and a full compliment of mounting brackets for L1A1, GPMG, AR15 and Carl Gustav (the mount for the L42A1 is generally kept as part of the L42’s own CES). A wonderful compliment to any fine and otherwise complete L42 setup or of course an L1A1, I don’t see many of these and rarely as complete as this example. £3,500.00

5.56mm Enfield L98A1 Cadet GP – SOLD

5.56mm/.223 Enfield L98A1 Cadet General Purpose Rifle. Where do I start? This is a very, very, rare rifle – there are only around a dozen that have made it into civilian ownership and of those not all are complete rifles, some are just barrelled uppers without trigger mechanism housings (TMH’s). A few years ago the MOD tried to gather these few L98’s up and retain them, there followed a lengthy and well publicised court case where, without going into a lot of complicated details, the MOD made a case that all SA80 type rifles (including L98’s) were MOD property and any that were not in the possession of the MOD were, essentially, nicked. In the end, following much wrangling and a Police Property Act hearing, these few examples in civilian hands were returned to their owners but with new TMH’s supplied and fitted by the MOD (interestingly the only part of SA80 type rifles the MOD numbered were the TMH’s…) with correct Unit Enfield prefix serial numbers and correct L98A1 markings (this was, I believe, a way of saying they had “recovered” the previously fitted believed nicked TMH’s which is thought had been part of the shroud programme as they had all had the front ends cut and rewelded). This is one of those rifles and as such has cast iron provenance, correct markings and a correct UE prefix serial number (along with the serial number that had been on it prior to the replacement “correct” TMH being fitted by the MOD). So, there you go – if you collect Enfield’s you “need” an example of the last Enfield rifle, here is your chance, it may be many years before you see another (I have handled the sale of 5 out of the above number now, the last one 2 years ago and for more money than I am marketing this example) and if you are looking for something to add to your collection with bragging rights that will eclipse anything else you will encounter on the range then here it is! Obviously you will need deep pockets, but as I have said before – good things are rarely cheap! Nice and tight action, near mint barrel, original handbook, cleaning kit and spare magazine. £SOLD

7mm Chilean Mauser Model 1895 4025

7X57mm Chilean Mauser Model 1895, manufactured by Ludwig Lowe in Berlin. In stunning condition, essentially unfired and unissued with perfect bore and all matching (original) numbers throughout. Beautifully crisp Chilean stock cartouche and acceptance marks and with virtually all original finish remaining. Not an uncommon rifle, most Chilean Model 1895’s we come across are in fairly tired and unloved condition, this is far and away the very best collector quality example I have had through my hands and will not disappoint in any way. I do not expect to have it long! £2,250.00

.303 BSA CLLE Long Lee 4005

.303 BSA Charger Loading Lee Enfield. A very fine Long Lee with matching numbers and the majority of its original finish throughout. Good original barrel with very strong rifling and bore gauging at .3045”, correct micro-adjustable rearsight fitted, also matching numbers to the rifle. Fitted with a very rare Parker-Hale PH6A target sight – only the second I have handled and highly collectable in its own right. Don’t often see Long Lee’s with as much original finish as this one and with lovely crisp woodwork that likewise has not fallen victim to an enthusiastic owner with a sheet of sandpaper and a bottle of gloop, certainly one of the better ones around that will make its new custodian very happy! £1,450.00

7.62mm Chanwood Ordnance No4Mk1 3976

7.62mm Charnwood Ordnance conversion, Circa 1988. A very fine example of the 7.62mm conversions carried out by Charnwood Ordnance in 1988, this one being the 32nd such conversion sold. Near mint bore and very tidy throughout appearing to have seen very little use in its life, with matching numbers to the action and bolt (from time of conversion) and fitted with a Sterling 7.62mm magazine. .22 No1MK6 Trials/Training Rifle 3949

.22 No1MK6 Trials/Training Rifle, Circa 1930. Now, here we have a real curio, something for the collector who thought he had everything perhaps… This rifle was acquired by my good friend Dr. Roger Payne as a partially (though not properly..) deactivated example, the barrel and receiver had been cut through the feed ramp, pinned through the action ring and bolt head cut at an angle. As a No1Mk6 action it was a rarity, it had been FTR’d at Fazakerly in 1941 while we were scrabbling for all usable rifles possible in the days immediately post-Dunkirk and it seemed a terribly inauspicious end for such a trials rifle to effectively become a paperweight – so we decided to let it live again, and here is the result. Between Roger and I we have rebuilt the action, replaced the barrel and lined it as a .22 (given the rebuild of the receiver ring we did not feel it was wise to build it up as a .303) and converted a suitable replacement bolthead for .22 in the same way as the No9’s were done. It has been stocked up in woodwork correct for a Fazakerly 1941 FTR (small components likewise) and we are very pleased with the results. I have pictures from when we rebuilt the action should any prospective purchasers wish to see what was done (you genuinely would not know today that anything had happened to it, had I not said). An unrepeatable opportunity and quite a talking point…. £4,250.00

.303 No1Mk3* PPCo Sniper Reproduction 3889

.303 BSA No1MK3*, Circa 1915. This SMLE has been turned into a replica WW1 sniper of the Periscopic Prism Company Model 1915 type with a reproduction Telescope mount base and rings – I am not certain of the manufacturer of the base and rings but the quality is very good so I suspect they originated from my pal Dr. Roger Payne and it was not I who fitted them to this rifle but they appear well fitted and aligned. The rifle has been renumbered throughout to match and has a good shootable bore gauging at .30375”. The telescope appears sound and is in good mechanical order with good optics for the age. This is a very well priced WW1 sniper recreation, I could not come close to building you one for the asking price and although there are a few areas that could be improved upon (the rear fit of the forend for instance is a little gappy and the butt is a No4 butt) it offers a superb and economical base from which to start. £3,750.00.

7X57mm Chilean Mauser Model 1895. In very nice overall condition with nice sharp stock and matching numbers throughout with the exception of the bolt assembly, unusually good bright bore (most of these tend to be very corroded…) and lots of aging original finish. .303 Winchester P14 3682

.303 Winchester P14, Circa 1917. Missmatched but groups well, bore gauging at .304” isn’t new but has lots of life left in it and the woodwork is very presentable. P14’s are getting harder and harder to find, particularly in good shootable condition. £ 850.00

.303 No4Mk1T B-Pattern Trials Rifle 1931 3689

.303 Lee Enfield No4Mk1T Trials Rifle, Circa 1941 (built on a 1931 B-Pattern Trials No4). Originally a B-Pattern trials No4Mk1 built in 1931, this rifle was one of the trials rifles converted at Enfield in 1941 and trialled as a No4T, then being put into active service during WW2. It still has many original trials/inspectors marked parts such as trigger, sear, magazine release, trigger guard, magazine (rare) and – quite amazingly – barrel assembly (including forsight block) both numbered and dated to the rifle with inspectors marks and steel batch number. Trials (1941) ‘scope pads (inspectors mark on the front) fitted and in very good, undisturbed, order. Rearsight is a Mk1 very early Singer example, in 1932 the change was made from 4 click to 6 click rearsights and a plunger and spring replaced the earlier ball detent so this sight is technically correct – I do not know how many 6-click/plunger rearsights were built for the trials but I have never seen a trials marked one. The barrel is, as said, original with a good bore gauging at .30375”. Matching numbers to the action which has its trials GR cypher fully intact, replacement (probable, though it does have a trials inspectors mark…) bolt body. The rifle has had its serial number re-stamped, presumably when converted to Telescope Rifle specification however it is the original number and retaining its “A” prefix (the original number is viewable on the undisturbed barrel – this has not been restamped and is in original font) and the metalwork has been painted in fairly typical FTR fashion though no FTR marks are present (which, for me, is a plus). Forend replaced at the time of T conversion with feint matching number and remaining woodwork has been gloss oiled in its life. 1941 dated No32Mk1 telescope by HBM in very good optical and mechanical condition having been given an optical and mechanical service recently, in well refinished condition with original leather lens covers in a Dr. Roger Payne fine reproduction bracket (mismatched rifle number), contained in a very nice and rare No8Mk2 canvas telescope tin with correct original carry strap. Rifle and scope/tin contained within a superb 1944 dated No15 transit chest in original paint, very well preserved interior but with disintegrated carry handles (easily replaced). £6,250.00

.303 BSA No1MK3*, Circa 1916. A lovely, solid, and mostly original 3* with good barrel gauging at .3035” (not dated or numbered so may be original to the rifle) and matching (original) numbers to the action, bolt, transitional forend (correct for age) and nosecap, the windage adjustable rearsight has the rifle number correctly applied and another number barred out so this rifle may have been retrograded to Mk3-no-star post WW1 for Naval issue.
